The order of every song played on every episode of radio slipstream is archived here. 99% of the episodes have links to mp3s of recordings. The episodes also all have generally random but potentially interesting titles created by myself with maximum wordplay and varying levels of applicability.

Up until summer 2007, the recordings are in 32 kbps (which means quite low quality, but still quite listenable unless you are a major audiophile, and depending on your speakers) and for the early part of 2005 there was somehow a lot of static on the webstream. Post summer 2007 (and summer 2006) the recordings are all straight from my hard-drive and should be totally free of glitches.

We’ve been mostly steering away from the synthesizers for a while, so this time I’m going to unbridle a whole mess of smooth/tasty/euro/banging/sexy beats on you fools. The music starts off like a celebration of the edge between cool and hot on a sultry summer night perfect for top down cruising. Then it explores the territory and comes back with some pounding classics, noodly newness and generally steady beatings. I apologize I am definitely getting behind on the show. So so many awesome tracks lounging around in the queue waiting to be heard. I will try to get these gems out to you at a better rate. The slipstream is supposed to be new and great and it’s struggling with the former (but at least the great bit is what’ll count in the long run and it’s looking tip top in that respect).

So maybe ‘world’ music would be more descriptive, but what comparably lame puns could be made with that? … I rest my case. And anyway, why would the traditional music of British and Americans be called folk and that of Nicaraguans be called worldbeat? That’s not exactly fair. That may all be beside the point, though, because while all the music this episode is infused with the musical traditions of cultures all around the world, it’s not necessarily the traditional sort of stuff. Some of it with the modern production and arrangement. Call it worldly folk. And give it a listen, because there are some real gems here.

The first episode of 2009 and the first episode featuring brand new fractionized length! Content-wise wes is tying up some loose ends of 2008. And you know when the last episode is all dancing and electronics that you’re soon due for some REAL pounding drums and some scratchy guitars and bellowed vocals. So today it gets down pretty gritty at first but it does mellow out to the middle and eventually even betrays faint whiffs of synth-pop, chamber-pop and doo-wop.

Hellohihey.. time for some more MUSIC. This baby is muchamore synthesized than the last episode. It starts out tempered and dreamy, then layers on serious doses of funk. Then it scurries around the world, goes into the future and has a little apocalypse (albeit a fairly funky one) before sitting under a tree in the late evening and thinking about what its done.
